I've been reading a lot of unhappy people with their homes and the services that Mattamy has provided them.

With all the negative comments that I have read, I'm wondering was this a mistake. I am excited and looking forward to move to my new home. But with everything that has been said, it would kinda bring a person down.

People should realize that there will always be issues and poor customer service with new homes regardless who the builder is.

What I would like to know is if anyone has anything positive to say!

+1, I'm starting to get worry about our factory build home with all these negative reviews. We should start a poll to determine if we need to start a protest to get the executives of Mattamy involve. This is very upsetting and I don't want to go through what people in HVE have gone through. Any positive feedbacks???? :?

I completely agree with you! I have a few friends that have/had purchased a home with mattamy and they had no issues with them. At least nothing major.

I"m sure if there are that many unhappy people and they organize themselves properly... conduct VERY VISIBLE and peaceful protests at both Mattamy's head office and Milton Sales center, i'm sure these would not go unnoticed. Especially if it was timed to coincide with a large lot release.

Well I know from previous experience you'll get no where if you pester them. Getting them angry no matter how frustrating the situation they will put you on the back burner. Once you get tarion involved they tend to move their buts real fast. No builder likes to have a conciliation against them.

I am a little confused. Is the forum used to complain and discourage people?

I was being a little funny.... But if i go to Hero Burger and buy lunch, and say mmhmm, i had a good lunch, I am not going to run to the site and post i had a great lunch..... If i went there and got cold french frys, and had to wait 15mins for my burger, then i would most likly post that.... As i did in the past.

unfortunately negative feedback will always out weigh positive feedback on any forums site... not just this one.

I was excited about Mattamy when I first bought. The process afterwards seemed a little stressful for me. I just have to wait and see and judge for myself.

On a side note, here's an interesting article:

I moved into my house just over a year ago and I am very happy with the customer service - and have had no major problems - so don't listen to all the complainers on here :)

We too are happy Mattamy customers. Moved in a little over a year ago and the customer service has been great. We had a home inspector come in for our 1 year, and commented on how well our home was built. We've never had any major issues, and any small issues were dealt with quickly and professionally. We couldn't be happier, and would buy from Mattamy again in a heartbeat!

We are very happy with the house itself. Only few minor issues, what we are unhappy with is the customer service and the attitude both by the coordinator and warranty department.
Ex. it's been 14 months and we are still waiting for our touchup paint, and I've mentioned it to them probably 10 times now.

Hope this helps.

I might be in the minority, but I feel Mattamy has very good customer service and I've been happy with them overall. Also, being calm, firm but polite when talking to their reps go a long way in getting help.

My only beef with them are the rude, caveman-like tradespeople they employ. Everyone has had to experience the guys who sit on their porches to eat lunch, then leave their garbage on the lawn, or worse yet, the guys taking a pee or a dump on their property!

What doesn't make me warm and fuzzy is that I am not finding their homes to be built very well, and worry they won't stand the test of time. In just 2 years, I'm already experiencing water leaks in my basement at the foundation, which worries me the most, and other little things like the faucets leaking and a toilet that had to be replaced.
