Principal is really nice. She was principal at OLV for 5 years. My son will be in grade 1 and my daughter will be in grade 6. They are currently at Our Lady Of Victory. We have heard that some of the teachers will be going to OLF.

I talked to the principal before she left OLV about what was happening with uniforms now that Guardian Angels is finished their 2 year trial. She said the board left it up to the individual schools to decide whether or not they wanted uniforms. She also said she would have liked to implement them from the opening of the school in Sept however the board said it couldn't be done the first year. Perhaps they need a parental vote? Not sure. I know the students at GA were sent home with a voting form awhile back to determine if uiforms would continue next year.
I am really happy that Mrs Caverly is moving to OLF. OLV is a wonderful school, I hope she will bring many of the great aspects of OLV to OLF including their tribes program.

OLF is pretty far from our house! We live around Salvoline/Derry. Does anyone know if there will be school buses? If so, where would the pick/up drop-off be?

Our boys will be attending that school as well. One will be in grade 2 & the other will be in SK.

Anyone heard what time school will start at?

We will miss the uniforms as well....but by the sounds of it I think OLF will have uniforms next year.

My kids will be attending as well. Son in grade 5, son in grade 2 and daughter in SK. They had a orientation on the 27th of May and I was unable to attend. They had all the information that evening. Did anyone attend?

My daughter is at GA now and I really like the uniforms. It makes the mornings so easy. I will miss them.

Did I miss something (slightly off topic)? The pro uniform group won with about 70% of the vote.

I think they were talking about the vote for uniforms at GA. I understood the poster to mean they will miss uniforms when switching schools?
From what the principal of OLF told me there will be no uniforms the first year as per instructions from the school board.

We got a letter home today that stated the hours:

8:15 Entry Bell
8:20 Instruction Begins
9:50 Recess (15 min)
10:50 JK/SK Dismissal
11:25 Lunch Dismissal
12:20 JK/SK Instruction Begins
12:25 Instruction Begins (other grades)
1:45 Recess (15 min)
2:50 Instruction Day Ends

I believe these are the same hours as St. Peters.

Also...Temporary office at St. Anthony of Padua 905-632-4814 ext 5376

Great news. Same as Guardian Angels.

I called and they imagine bus pick up will be around 7.50 in Derry/Scott/Savoline area.

Great hours for working parents. I was hoping for the earlier start time

Yes...all grades. The school will be offering before/after school care but not sure if it will be up and running for the 2009/10 school year.

Wow my kids aren't going to be happy with the start time. They start school now in Brampton at 8:45. However they may like the fact that they'll be getting out a little earlier.

As for the uniforms, each school community gets to have their own vote. Based on the timelines as per the school board, a vote would be done once the school year starts so the uniforms would go through the following year if that is what your community votes for.

My son goes to GA and the uniforms are amazing since it's a huge cost savings and the focus can be on school and not their clothing.

Parents of kids in JK or SK: just curious as to what you will be doing with your kids the other half day.

Any suggestions???

I would like to take a year off, but I don't think my wife will go for it. :) [/b]

seriously - any comments would be helpful...thanks
