Theres a lot crazier things to camp out for; concert tickets, electronics, movies, books, people line up outside stores Christmas night for boxing day sales. Mattamy has been only releasing enough lately it seems to satisfy the demand of the people waiting in line, thus they are almost forcing people that want to buy to wait in line. I think affordable housing in a nice community is one of the few things I might consider camping out for.

I think it was much more affordable 4-5 months ago (before the prices went up 30k - 40k. Am I glad that I got what I wanted in the spring.

Dido
I have never done such a thing, but I think a house on a "great property" might be worth wait, not just an ordinary property that backs onto the neighbors.

I can see on the Mattamy website that the pricing has definitely gone up- we're not looking at selling anytime soon but it's nice to see some profit anyway.

Good luck to those waiting! I hope you all get the lot you are looking for- It looks like 44 lots- I wonder if Mattamy is releasing all of them tomorrow....

just wondering if they are still offering the $3000 in upgrades with a new home purchase. My house is up $35k in only 4 months. With the prices skyrocketing I would suggest others to check out other builders who include many upgrades with their homes. For probably around the same price now. Do your homework and crunch some numbers. Spirit homes are basic homes and you have to pay for ALL upgrades. Other builders include many upgrades with their homes.

Just an fyi.. those lots that were all white earlier, are now the correct 36/43/50' colours. Wondering when we'll see our first post from one of the new owners to let us know if the prices matched the website

There was a release of 34' and 36' on 26th and 27th sept. We went to the sales centre on 30th sept and saw two 34's still available, which have no houses infront. So, I don't understand why there was a line up again.

The release this weekend is for a crescent street, 'Coombs Crt', siding on to protected woodlot. 36', 43' and 50'lots. 4 lots had premiums. No other houses were charged the "quiet street" premium. The houses have gone up in price. Estimate - 36' = $10k more, 43' = $15k more and 50' = $20k more ON SATURDAY for 17 lots. The second half of the release is on SUNDAY and the prices gone up again on top of the increase on Saturday prices, 36' = $10k more, 43' = $15k more and 50' = $20k for Sunday, for about 15 lots. And there will be a release on October the 10th I believe for 36' and 43' lots only, but I'm too sure on that. Intracorp homes is supposedly gonna be north of this crescent.

LOL.. and the cycle of impulse buy --> worry --> delay --> remorse --> anger continues. :)

Mattamy is smart when it comes to sales, and I'll say it again - buyers really put themselves in risky situations by lining up to spend $3-400k+

People, don't forget - hire a good lawyer!!! We want to see you new homeowners back here online in the future happy with your purchase and your builder.

...and good luck with the purchase - it really is an exciting event in life.

My thoughts exactly, lining up to buy the most expensive purchase of your life on impulse under pressure is definitely risky.

I personally don't understand your viewpoints, but to each their own. We were moving to leave an area and I am not buying on impulse. We were looking in Mississauga, but found that Milton gave us more value for our dollar. We actually put in an offer on a Mississauga home re-sale of $580000, but were beat out in negotiations. I'm glad we were because I got 1000 sq feet more and an awesome lot as compared to the house in Mississauga. So i have NO regrets whatsoever. I think eveyone's situation is different. I'm sure there are people buying on impulse, and good on Mattamy for taking advantage. Even the re-sale homes in the area are listed at more than what I got my house for. And I get to choose what I want, where I want and upgrades and colours. Its a no brainer for me.

Most of the people that were in line had done their research and knew what they wanted 2 months prior. For me I sacrificed 3 days, 2 nights of life for a place I plan on staying at for 10-20 years and raise my family. I don't think people were lining to get a deal. People were lining up to buy a house.

Anyways. Good luck to all!

I agree we purchased 3 out of our 4 homes on an impulse. Never regretted one of our decisions.

I agree! And that is a killer lot that you got!! If we'd had the money we'd been seriously tempted to have beaten you into line for that one. But we don't, so alas... :)

Enjoy your great purchase, and congratulations to you.

I agree, totalpkg(aka #1). I resent the accusation that those lining up were buying on impulse. I know we did our research and knew what we wanted when we lined up. It wasn't about getting a sale, it was about buying the house we wanted where we wanted.

Congrats on your purchase! Totalpkg- do you mind me asking what the premiums were on the lots that had premiums attached?

It may seem crazy to some, but if you want a particular lot, that is how the game is played. If one is satisfied playing the resale market, no problemo, but I say good job for getting exactly what you wanted.

What house did you put on Lot 1? I'm very curious where the house sits relative to the property.. its nice that it is a large lot, on a quiet street with siding on a wood lot. Seems like the lots to the north are big 50' as well, so should be nice houses as neighbours to the back.
