Any experience with Lumber Depot store in Milton? Prices compare to HD/Rona?

If lumber Depot is the one on Bronte, Lots of my friends have used it. Prices are about the same or slightly higher, but you get better quality wood. And you are supporting a localy owned business instead of huge US corporation.

I had to laugh at your post..... It is 12 KM to Winston Churchill..... I have never seen someone so excited over 12 km let alone a Home Depot!!

Thanks for brightening my afternoon and happy shopping!!! :D

Matt

I'm pretty excited, but that is because I drive a old 2000 nissan altima, and it has limited storage capacity, translating into, driving with lumber sticking out of the trunk. I'd much rather drive 1 k, instead of 12 getting that stuff home.

In truth, I just use the old Rona/Revy on Main, but sometimes I like to hand pick my Lumber instead of the yardies. (Although the yardies are more then welcome to load 12 bags of cement into my car for me. :D )

Within 15 years, Milton will likely been nicknamed 'Oakville North' as the two towns collide.

It will be nice however I feel sorry for the Greenpark home owners across the street. Poor people were probably never told a future HD was going to be put there. I would hate it as HD is always busy and brings lots of traffic - that area/corner is bad enough with the Tims and the shiatty parking lot, now they're adding to it with and HD.

I for myself, can't wait for the movie theater to open here!
Will beat going down to Mississauga to go see a movie!

Any idea, of the date (I think it's summer 2006)?

But I do feel sorry for the people living on that strech of road!

Sandra

The RONA is a joke. It's still the old Rona/buiding box old store. I went there once and I couldn't believe the amount of dust inside the store on the shelves / stock.

The one on Main? That used to be a Cashway.

The one off of Winston Churchil/401 was a Building Box.

In the last decade Rona has acquired the names of Building Box, Lansing, Cashway, and Revy and amalgamated all of them under the Rona name. I find it a pretty good store.

That's right! It was a Cashway store.

I find both big box stores pretty good but you still have to compare prices. I found Rona had better prices on a ladder and garage insulation I bought compared to HD.

Now that I'm putting in 240V into the garage I see that HD prices for electrical parts are better quality and less expensive.

Bottom line shop around.

I hit at least 2 Canadian Tires, 3 Ronas and a Home Hardware every week. The nicest Rona I have found is the one by Erin Mills mall.

The nicest CT is probably the new one there in Milton.

And the Home Hardware in Milton is quite large and sells a lot of things you wouldn't expect it to.. It has a MUCH better selection for fasteners compared to any of the other stores.

Just to let everyone know the new Home Depot will have a Subway location in a few weeks once they get all the details finalized etc. Jamie & Lianne Krane of the Market Dr. and Crossroads locations will have the new Subway at the front entrance of Home Depot ready and waiting for the whole family!

WHAT A JOKE OF A HOME DEPOT TOO :?

Gone there on several occassion only to find out they don't stock what I was looking for so (which is standard stocking item at other HDs) I had to drive to the Argentia HD off Winston Churchill.

What's the point of building that little store if it's not gonna carry everything the other stores in the area do - what a waste! They sure screwed up that one. Like the Rona & Home Hardware carry anything I want!

Just my 2 cents.

I understand what you're saying - maybe they were sold out.

Not the case they just flat out told me they don't stock it/carry it at this store.

One perfect example is the screw/bolts/nuts aisle - in another HDs it's ONE FULL aisle with a billion different types of screws, bolts washers etc - go to HD in Milton and there 3 trianlge shaped spinners about 2 feet tall and that all they have - pathetic.

If anything the new HD in Milton has cost me more money and greif than benefit cause I've gone their first then after finding out they don't stock it I'd have to drive all the way over to the Argentia store when I could've gone their in the first place
