yea we werent very pleased, I just figured that if they had to test the system it would have to be on a weekend because if they did that during the weekday no kids would show up for school. So we were inconvenienced but not necessarily irate about it.

He said officials will be briefing employees on the mishap in hopes of avoiding it in the future.

They’ll also be asking the software developers to build in some safeguards, such as prohibiting operators from setting up messages more than a day in advance, or requiring officials to sign off on a warning right before it goes out.

^This is why I am glad I work in IT and not in the medical field. In many fields, mistakes = death. Fortunately for the most part, mistakes in IT cause outages, woken up parents etc

I work in Medical software, so we get both worlds - big mistakes = death, and minor mistakes = extremely annoyed users

They just mentioned it on the 8 am news on BT this morning ....... I'm just glad I didn't get the call twice as I have 2 kids at Hawthorne and 1 at Milton District .... (I always get 2 emails)

I even asked my husband - who answered the call - to check to see if it was actually snowing - and he did - before we 'woke up' .... :lol:
