So in that whole paragraph, you say iPad is better due to the app store. If you read the OP's post, she said she needs it to surf the net and it has to be portable. PlayBook is more portable and has a better browser than iPad, hands down. I fail to see why you would recommend iPad in her case.

And before you call me a RIM fanboy, I own 4 tablets (PB, iPad3, and 2 Android tabs).

There is no perfect phone or tablet. There is a perfect phone and tablet for every person though. Trick is to find what works for you, not your friends or other members of this forum.

I hate not having native flash on the ipad...kind of kills some of the browsing experience for me. This is why I would rather use my PlayBook to browse.

The Asus transformer isn't built well. I bought 3 as I had to keep returning them due to light bleeds on the edges (annoying in low light situations) and the plastic body started creaking on me within hours of having it.

The iPad's are built well, but you pay a rediculous price for them. Lack of flash is annoying as you don't realize what sites you visit use flash until you visit them on an apple device... For me, it's a number of them...

I have a playbook and touch pad - both are used equally. My PB is connected to my BB so it's a great way to view my emails bigger. The touch pad is used by the wife and kids for browsing and games.

If all you really want is email and a web browser, I'd check out the cheaper ones at Tiger Direct...

Flash is going bye bye soon. Nobody will care about it in a couple of years.

She doesn't say she needs the app store, because she hasn't experienced the app store. Apps are what makes your device now. Not this "herp derp quad-core, you're an apple fanboy herp derp" bullshit that people spew.

I went to Aspen with family in March. We had lined up on the counter, my iPad, my father's iPad, and my uncle's iPad. My aunt's iPad was not there with us.

Now, you tell me - if this is a stupid product, why do we all have one? Yeah we're super rich, but still.

No one said it's stupid. Maybe you should try downloading an app to comprehend simple sentences :) I'm sure it exists. I love the iPad 3, it's phenomenal. She said she has an iPhone, so I'm pretty sure she's had the opportunity to "experience" the app store (whatever that means). However, it's overkill for the OP's requirements based on her post.

I've heard that for how long now? It's still out there, so until it's gone, it's still important to me.

Do you think one morning all websites will just click the off button on their flash components? Of course it will linger but the sites that utilize its technological replacement will get the majority of visitors. People will forget. Steve Jobs was right again, we don't need Flash.

Amusing how he used proprietary as a reason...

And that it's a "PC and Mice" product... not Mac...

I could care less what Jobs had to say about the death of flash. Point is, as Deep mentioned, it's still used now and it's annoying when you go to a site on an iPad and can't do anything.

Of course APPLE would be calling for the death of Flash. It may be on its way out but many sites still use it. Thats why Id prefer the Playbook for browsing.

But someone will say iPad is better :) for me its BB!!!

Flash is around now, and will be around for the next 3-5 years as sites phase it out. Until then, I want a browser that supports Flash.

Exactly. The use of html5 has been slower than people expected, which is exactly why flash is still lingering.

But at least the iPad has great fart apps to pass the time when it comes to viewing a flash website :) I know the PB has some fart apps too ...
