I nice hidden gem in Milton is the Milton Cafe. It serves indian food: Butter Chicken; Roti, Somosas, etc. The owner and his wife are very friendly. They also run a travel agency in the same store which is always interesting. If you are in a rush, this in not the place to go, they make your food when you get there, but they let you have the TV remote.
