Just an update for you folks following this thread...

I can tell you that plans have changed slightly, and there will now be a bank and a grocery store at this site.

I don't believe the grocery was mentioned in the past, and I just wanted to update you all.

Where can we go to confirm this info? Or who is your source?

Consider this the confirmation. :)
Your choice to trust me or not, but I have nothing to gain here - just passing on information I have based on my relationship with one of the parties involved, without overstepping my boundaries due to contracts that may or may not currently be in negotiation.

I will be happy to pass on more information as it becomes available to me.

At that location you'd be lucky to squeeze in a Sobey's Express (yeah I just made that up, don't know if it exists). A Rabba or Hasty Market would make more logical sense in that spot.

The full size grocery store will go at Bronte and Louis St. Laurent as has been reported here many times...

Swiss Chalet with drive through would be sweeeeeeeeeeet

Anything but a drive through for whatever establishment. If I could, I'd ban all drive throughs. :-)

I'll take you for your word Fredd, a grocery store nice and close would be nice (unless of course they charge A&P type prices) then I'll just be using it for the odd things. :)

I live by the Holly & Derry plaza. We have a convenience store that was originally listed as a "grocery store". Realistically at best there would probably be a Rabba type establishment (like the one by the Mattamy sales centre). That being said, we have used our convenience store on several occasions to get things like milk, bread, dishwashing liquid, etc.... It is so nice to have these types of amenities in walking distance from your house.

Agreed... Judging by the map of the layout for the plaza, I doubt any major Grocery Chain can open up shop there. However, there should be more than enough room for a Rabba to open up and just like the previous poster stated, it would be a great place to get some essential items instead of driving to Food Basic or further.

Here's to hoping we get some much needed Rabba store in the area (or similar)

Folks, from what I've been told, the 'plaza' concept and layout you're thinking of is no longer.
The grocery will indeed be a major one (no tiny or express store).

The site will now host 2 buildings: the large grocery store, and a free standing bank.

Things change - and as promised, I will keep you posted with any more info that comes to me that I can share.

That would be wonderful to have a grocery store! Please let us know when you do which store will be opening and when it plans to open.

I am getting "crucified" on the Best Buy post for my compliant of lack of amenities.

However, We do need a decent grocery store west of hwy 25. We have a lot of drug stores (with basic groceries) and banks. Something we can walk to or bike to.

Given the size of the property I can only see one of 3 being built - Price Chopper, Food Basics or NoFrills.

There is no way that anything larger could be built in that location unless it was a really scalled down version of a Soby's or Metro and I dont think they would put smaller Loblaw's in that location.

My guess is that it will be a Longo's store. They have stores all around us in Burlington, Oakville and Mississauga, and they often build on in this type of plaza.
