It's still better (and legal) to get it sorted out sooner rather than later. About 15 years ago I was pulled over for a routine stop, it was about 2 months after I had changed addresses. The address on my insurance papers and the address on my drivers license were different. I was questioned about it and ended up with something around a $150 fine. I've learned since then
