BTW, anyone notice how this thread has drifted from naming of schools to um "culturalist" concerns to other immigrant type issues.
Doesn't that really signify that the issue behind concerns over the naming of TJS is really about race/culture/whathaveyou than wrestling, etc.
Just a thought.
bingo!! i firmly believe that once one actually delves into finding out what this man is actually about, there can be no judgement...it is a fitting choice--whether the name be his stage name or his given name....
btw...i find anyone who jumps to racial concerns right away are often racist themselves...tolerance, just as everything else, starts at home...or in this case with the individual....
and why has this become about one ethnic group? i remember when the "cool" thing was to berate the spanish and the italians and the portuguese as unworthy....i have a few members of my family who had medical credentials not from their home country but from britain, where they first emmigrated to, and yet here those credentials were not recognized....is this not the same? my parents, and others in my family, did not have the money to invest in more schooling at that time and so found jobs, in factories or shops, built up some cash, and then decided (my parents and my aunt and uncle) to open their own business.......hmmmmmmmm....from two suitcases to not owing a thing to anyone...except to family who helped them to get onto their feet for a few months.....how many here can say that they have done this? i am extremely proud of this on their behalf, and as i grew up and actually matured...i strive for the same...there are no complaints about who's doing what to 'hold me down'...i just work to overcome that obstacle and work bloody hard to do it.....perhaps this is what could be happening in these cases....a stepping stone to get to where they want to be...
and as an aside....it scares me to hear that the US is better than Canada with racism?!?! that's a first for me!
