I am going to do the crown moulding as this year renovation project. Before doing anything, do I have to paint all wall first or vice verse. Thanks ahead!

If you paint the wall first you don't have to worry to much about cutting at the ceiling or bottom of the crown, depending on the colour of the wall it can make caulking along the bottom of the crown after installation that much trickier, then painting the crown you have to be careful not to get it on the freshly painted wall, 6 in one half dozen the other really. Are you attempting painting and crown projects yourself?

I am going to paint the walls myself and hire a contract to do the moulding.
