Both my husband and I work downtown Toronto, and will be moving to Milton next year.

Just a guess though

I am not in downtown right now. The good thing is that my office will move to beside UNION STATION next year (Great 2009 for us)

I drive from Milton to Front Street daily, it's 55 minutes (door to desk) in the morning, 1 hour in the evening, and is quite consistent (as long as it is not raining, snowing, too sunny or foggy  ).

Driving costs me an extra $100 a month in gas/parking, but saves me an hour each day. Well worth the extra time I get to spend with my family, plus convenience of setting my own schedule.

Wow, so fast? Do you go 401E --> 427S --> Gardiner East?

Trafalgar south to QEW/Gardiner, it's fairly consistent, and I don't drive too far above the speed limit

Haha, nah, I was just thinking how you can get there so fast even with no traffic, because it's at least 50km door-to-door to downtown.

In a situation where the QEW is shut down, or is so ridiculously backed up due to a collision or rubber-neckers, do you have alternates?

I use Dundas or Lakeshore if I really have to, but in the past 18 months have only had to do that three times. I was lucky a couple of weeks ago when the cows were on the highway, I had a vacation day that day.

There have been a few days this winter where it's taken 2-3 hours to get to work/home, but those are few and far between.

60 minutes isn't really a stretch. While on a course at Bay/Wellington on Saturdays recently it was taking about 35 minutes to get the training centre.

I am lucky that my office is pretty much right at Spadina/Front, any further into the core and the time would start adding up.

BTW, it's exactly 50KM from my house to my office, so good estimate :!:
