Post subject:  Advice on getting a real estate agent

I'm currently looking for an agent to sell my home in Mississauga and was wondering what peoples' experiences have been dealing with discount brokerages, the ones that offer 1% commission for selling your home. I am aware that the buyer's agent will take 2.5%.

A word on the 1% commission agents....

they usually are listing agents only...that means that they will list your home only, if you wanted to go see homes you may want to purchase thats not included in the 1%. For that type of commission they are only responsible for the selling of your current home, nothing else. They also usually list your home for less than another agent will....

So do you math, an agent that will list your home for 10,000 more then the 1% guy at the end of the day its really the same amount of money left on your pocket. thats just my .02 cents....maybe with your home and your numbers it will work out to your advantage but for us when w were looking for an agent it did not. we just sold our home in HV (moving back to Mississauga) and our agent was amazing if you need a name PM me.

Just for clarification - the co-operating brokerage commission (sometimes called a buyer broker) is NOT included in the 1%. This fee is generally 2.5% in addition to the listing fee.

Cheers,
Hunter
