just heard on the radio that they've closed Derry Road where it's flooded... just a heads up!

Anyone have the pleasure of driving through the 10"-15" of water on sixth line?

any news if they cleaned up derry and its open again?

Yes as of 10 pm. tonight both Derry and Steeles Avenue are closed due to flooding with the warm weather and 3X the snowfall this year it may continue through the night.

Check the traffic reports before you drive in the morning or use #401 or Britannia for east-west access. Another reason for the Derry road reconstruction is to improve the drainage.

Current status of the roads...(from citynews.ca)

Public works crews had a busy morning Wednesday patching up washed out roads, including a spot on the Sixth Line near Britania in Milton where a five-foot deep sinkhole opened up the street.

Work also needed to be done on a bridge on Steeles Avenue East west of the Sixth Line, forcing crews to close the crossing.

"There's a lot of volume of water coming down here which is very unusual. Normally the structures are big enough to take it," Bob Clark of the Halton Hills Works Department said.

Steeles from Sixth Line to Hornby Road is now open after an earlier closure due to the flowing water.

Fifth Line was also closed from Derry to Britania, but has since re-opened.

And it isn't only motorists affected by the flooding. An unlucky homeowner at Derry Road and Fifth Line now has a yard that resembles a swimming pool.

Has anybody's home flooded as a result of all that water?
