I tried Pet Makeover on Mary Street in town (trying a new place because my usual place in Erin is becoming a bit of a long drive with a baby in tow) but wasn't too impressed. They groom the dogs in a back room with the door closed so no one can see what is happening (in Erin they are open concept so you can see the grooming process at all times). Also, they missed a whole bunch of spots on my bichon frise and charged me $47.25 which I found a bit steep considering I pay $40 in Erin to get a full groom including nails and glands, etc. They didn't even do my dog's glands after I asked them to. I won't be going there again.

When I called Dog-E-Clips on Pearl Street the lady was really abrupt and rude on the phone so I made my decision not to go there!!

Good luck in your search. I've also heard of another lady who grooms out of her garage who is really good (name escapes me) and a place called Spaws I believe - worth a try.

I found Pet Makeover great for our Shi- Poo pup. He was not traumatized by his first trip to the groomer and they let us know how he did and what we should be concentrating on more for day to day grooming. I would definately go back and know many people who do.

I would recommend Dog-E-Clipse, I've taken our dog there a few times and they're great....and a great price too!

We use Dog-E-Clips as well. They do a good job (not great) and the price is very resonable for our Golden Retreiver to be washed and trimmed ($45-50)

Some other places we've gone to have charged $25-40 more and hey, a hair cut is a hair cut.

I too would like to find someone closer to home - currently I take our Westie to Brampton, but I have to make the app'ts when I am going to Brampton for other stuff - dr's or orthodontist. I am very picky - they need to have experience doing a Westie cut - and I did call one of the above mentioned places here in town - I will not divulge it's name - and I found the woman who answered the phone to be sort of 'unfriendly'. I feel if you own a dog that requires a specific cut - like the Westie - then you really need to find someone who can do the cut.
