Am I the only one who's wondering why Mattamy paints all the garages a different colour? Isn't that the number one no-no of town houses!?

I would think that each 5 block row would have the same colour. It looks kinda terrible.

We the towns are FREEHOLD, so technically the owners are able to paint the garage doors whatever colour they want.

They usually paint them different colours to make it easier to find your own place i guess lol

I think it gives them a downtown kind of feel.

Off topic, I've driven by the ones at Holly/Derry a few times and notice people with end units laying a driveway over where part of the lawn is at the side of the house. Does anyone know if that's kosher with city code/by-laws?

It is legal sort of LOL

We are doing it on our main street detached. Build it as a "patio" (paving stones or interlocking stones) as per my discussion with the lady at the Milton By-law office. Provided it doesn't protrude onto "city property" no one is going to say anything about it.

Its all a matter of "staying off the radar". Building a patio is in that location is completely legal. The fact that it can double as a parking spot is just a bonus lol. Put a retractable awning on the "patio" and now you have a "carport" LOL

Another question then. One of the houses I seen with one of these driveways had a ramp to get over the curb and the other had ripped out the curb and re-paved it flush with the road like a regular driveway. It was re-finished nicely to look like an other driveway, but is that going a little too far?

Its all about staying off the Radar, its a risk you take. The better you can camouflage it the better.

There's a Main street town with a Hottub on its back deck. Mattamy had told us that the decks can not support a hot tub in both the main street towns and detached homes.

I'm tempted to go knock on their door and ask how they managed to do it. What if any modifications they had to do.

I'd love to put a hot tub on the back deck of my Main street detached home.
