Union Gas is the supplier. Direct Energy is the weasels who come around to your door asking to see your gas bill to know if you have been "getting the discounted rate".

My understanding is you can stick with Union who actually is the supplier, but they also follow market rates as it goes up and down and bill you accordingly. Direct Energy is a company that will essentially become a middle man to that without actually touching anything. They will offer you a fixed rate for X number of years regardless if the rate goes up or down.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
