Does anyone know if the exhausts in washrooms (Master, Main and Powder) are included as a standard or is it an upgrade feature?

Riaz,

I believe it's actually code to have them in so they cannot build without them. I could be wrong, but either way they are not an upgrade and you will have them in all bathrooms as well as in your laundry room.

The fans in the washrooms are mandatory, you will also have a switch in the dining room that will turn on your upstairs main bath fan. This switch is to circulate the air through your home if you are cooking smelly food, turn on this switch and it will take the smell out of your home.
The fans that you will receive in your washrooms will be very loud ones. You can purchase quite ones at home depot. They have them on display so you can hear them before purchasing.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

As soon as I close, I'll pay a visit to Homedepot to check out the quite fans :)

Thanks again.

Bathrooms require either an window that opens or a fan.

The have been a standard feature from most builders.

I was working on a new million dollar house today that passed it's final inspections and noticed that the upstairs bathrooms did not have fans.

Didn't you know people with millions of dollars "their sh*t don't stink"
No need for a fan... :D

LoL ... justagirl, people with million dollars drink Cologne and Perfumes instead of regular water, which is why their sh*t don't stink and they don't need a Fan :) hahaha

Post subject:  Bathroom Fan

Bathroom fans are only mandatory if the washroom does not have a window that opens. However, it is considered standard practice to install them and today people expect a fan in a washroom that is properly vented to the outside.

A great addition to your fan is a timer switch. This will allow you to use the washroom without leaving the fan constantly on or turning it off prematurely when you leave the room. Your fan should run for 30 minutes after you leave the washroom after having a shower. Your powder room with a toilet that is near the kitchen could also likely benefit a timer on that fan as well.

I went back today and took another look.

The fans were on the walls right near the vanity lights. They are EnergyStar homes and the super said they had to go on the walls and not the ceiling for some reason.
