Hi Owens Mom Yes there is over a dozen retail areas proposed by staff already as part of the more compact complete community design including office and mixed retail/residential areas so you can also walk and ride to each centre. Watch the presentation on Cogeco TV this Wednesday night at 8 pm. to see some of the details which will be presented for public discussion and input over the next year for your ideas and comments on the staff and builder's proposals. Also check placestogrow web site to see what the Province is proposing for downtown transit friendly centre for existing and new urban areas. Colin Best Local & regional councillor Wards 2 & 4. Colin, As part of the planning for future retail/commercial sites, would it be possible to also look at the town's standards for the parking lot requirements that are associated with these new developments? We seem to have a wide variety of parking conditions throughout the town: Good A&P/SDM - Always lots of parking available CdnTire/Walmart - Generally good and should be back to normal once the rennovations are complete Bad Milton Mall - Usually busy and only going to get worse once the other new stores open on the North side Superstore/Scotia/ESM - Some areas are okay but in general this lot just doesn't seem big enough for the number of stores that are now open Ugly Home Depot/Galaxy Theatres - Extremely busy on the theatre side, especially during the dinner hour and definitely worse now that another large restaurant has opened |
