What's with the smell from the front load washers in Milton

I purchased a front loader washer for my last home in Hawthorne Village Milton. I really had a hard time with the smell.
I could even smell, this smell on different people in the neighborhood... I know it's not the way I am using it.
I now moved to Burlington took the washer with me and I have no problems.
My new home is now closing in August at the escarpment. Do the front loaders carry a smell there too.
Do I have to buy a water softener, will this help.

You need to leave the door open when you are not using it so that it can dry inside.

I have been leaving my door open, it still smells especially when I haven't used it in a few days I have called LG they say it is normal, I don't think smelly laundry is normal.
It is a dirty musty smell
I do know that front loaders never empty all the water. They always hold water in the bottom of the tank, but why does this water smell so bad and so quickly. Do you think a water softener will help?

I had the same problem with my LG Tromm & someone once posted a link to this video on Youtube about the mold collecting in the rubber seal at the door.

So I checked my seal & I could tell that's where the smell was coming from because over time dirt has accumulated there with hair & it smalled really bad
& the dirt was literally green
Once I cleaned it all up (used q-tips with cleaning solution), the smell was gone, at least in my washer.

I've had a front load washer now for 4 years and never had this problem. Right now I am currently living in Brampton but will be moving to Milton next May. Could it be the water???

Have been using a Whirlpool Front Loader in Milton for 1 1/2 yrs and no smell.

I know this sounds simple but, are you using "HE" detergent? Also you should be using less detergent then when you owned a regular washer.

All front loaders will have this issue if not taken care of properly (we didnt know at first either).
Rule Number 1 is to leave the door open for a few hours after the cycle is finished so the rubber can dry out.

The second maintenance is to run bleach through it every so often. Many of the new ones will have a cleaning cycle that is setup for that, our sales guy said if you dont have that cycle to try the bleach on your hotest setting.

I have had my machine for a few years and never had this problem. I do a lot of laundry though so maybe that's part of the problem for some of you.
I never use detergent for front load washers, was told by the store, to use regular soap but half as much.

All front loaders sometimes get a smell because there is always some water left behind. Sunlight has a new product called affresh that you use every few months to clean them out. I believe they are sold online or at future shop. 3 pucks for 9.99. They also have a website. p.s. my parents have the same problem and they live in mississauga, i don't think its just a milton thing but rather just a front loader thing.

I had the same problem with mine. Leaving the front door open helps prevent it, but once it gets in there that won't work any more.

I ran it empty with 1 cup of bleach, and 1 cup on vinegar using the longest cycle on HOT water. It completely eliminated the problem for me.

I think that was my problem while I was in Milton the stinky water was in there and I could not get it out.
When I moved all that water probably leaked out leaving my machine dry.
Now it's great...
So when all else fails just move...lol

They should tell you this when you buy
Does anyone know of a convenient place to buy those pucks by sunlight.
