| Post subject: | HELP PLS: Need your expert advice on the following pics |
My new home is under contruction. The following pics concerned me. There seems to be a load bearing metal pole that's resting on the foundation concrete wall, with approx half it not resting on it? There seems to be a lot of experienced people on this site, so I was hoping for some expert opinions. Should I be concerned? What should I do? I don't want it just covered up with insultation (or poured concrete on the porch) taken from outside porch (where concrete will eventually be poured) ![]() taken from inside basement looking out
LAST but not least, another pole and hole on the outside panel (styrofoam boards??? not sure what they're called)
any help would be truly appreciated. thanks |

the pic of the post with the shims underneath the metal beam doesn't look too bad, but the other 2 issues should definately be brought up to Mattamy. The busted-up XPS will most likely be fixed without you even bringing it up, but it doest hurt to alert them to it as well. |

Our home has several holes in this insulation panels. Due to outside construction. And it is very common issue. I asked them if it is going to be fixed and they told me absolutely have to because their homes must meet energy saving ratings. And it was fixed later on. Hard to find out if they did or not sometimes because once they will fix those holes they might start drywalling right away. For posts staying only half on foundation, if they are going to leave it like it is – looks ugly and dangerous. But I have no idea if it is within code limit or not. |
