Looks like we're getting a Snap Fitness at the A&P plaza sometime soon http://www.snapfitness.com/miltonon/ . Anyone have any first hand knowledge of them?

Hmmm I saw that sign up the other day and meant to look them up but forgot the name. Thanks for the link.

If anyone tries this place out I would be very interested to know how it is and if it is worth the price.

My Dad and Brother-in-Law go there and they really like it. It is never crowded and you don't have to sign a large contract. I don't think they pay $50 I think it is about $40 at the most. The price might have changed since opening.

One of the reasons why I would consider, but you don't get the perks like the bigger clubs.

price is around $34-37 depending on your options.

Everything is brand new, clean and tons of equipment.

Looks interesting, I'll probably come in and check it out. I like the idea of having a personal web page included to track progress and diet, I haven't belonged to a gym for quite a while, is this something a lot of places offer now?
Couple questions: Are you able to use your membership at other locations even on a limited basis? I notice your gym isn't staffed overnight; other than the swipe card for entry are there any other security precautions taken? In the "Find a Location" drop-down there is an option for Canada, the US and India. Image

I do not think this was answered. You can use your card at any of the SNAP fitness locations world wide. There is one small catch, if you go to another location more then your "Home" location, your membership automatically transfers there. Sometimes rates differ between locations based on supply and demand. If your membership transfers, your rate may go up or down.

I was a member of PUR 3 years ago. I got out of going and had too many excuses. I wasted a lot of money on months I did not go because of the contract. I saw SNAP being built by A&P and looked them up. Coincidently there was one near my work in Bolton that had just opened.
I signed up for the month to month and there are a lot of contracts but they are straight forward and no fine print. I also like that you can pay by credit card on a month to month basis. I had a bad experience with Priemier years ago and dealing with a bank is a lot harder then dealing with VISA when there is a billing issue.

I go to my SNAP during my lunch hour so I do not use Milton much. I think I have been there 3 times. I was a bit skeptical about the size and the smaller amount of equipment but in 3 months it has never been an issue. The odd time I have had to change the order of my workout since someone was on the machine I wanted but it was not a big deal.

A lot of people are put off because of the lack of showers but I personaly have never used the showers in any of the gyms I belonged to anyways. A good towel off and some pit stick and I am good to go back to work for the few hours until I can get home and shower.

All i can say is that I recommend you give it s try. There are a lot of machines there and I personally think that 1 week is not a long enough trial period. I cut my workout time in half by getting more familiar with the machines and their settings but that took me a few weeks.

Have a good day everyone, I hope some of this was helpfull.

Thank you Matt. Glad to have you in Milton even if it's only a couple days a month. You are right, if you use another club more than your home club, your membership does transfer. There may be slight differences in pricing from club to club and it's based on cost in the area. Rents are much higher in Milton than in say, Beamsville. The costs differences are not great however, and you have to use the visiting club more for 2 months in a row before the membership will transfer. Normally, people join the one that they will use the most often anyway. But the benefit is there that you can use all of the clubs, anywhere when you need to.

Thanks for your testimonial. I am glad you are enjoying it and look forward to seeing you again.

Be Well.

Thanks for the additional info. That's kinda what I figured regarding using alternate locations and certainly seems fair.

Still...India? I might get to Bangalore a couple of times a year, do you have clubs there?
