This time of year is the saddest for me. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and being in a country that does not celebrate Thanksgiving in November is difficult. I am sure any immigrant could relate to this.
I have such fond memories at a child having the whole family over for Thanksgiving, then after the meal we would get out all the Christmas decorations, and watch Christmas movies. Then on Friday morning the entire family would get up at 3am to go shopping and fight for all the good deals.
Thanksgiving for Americans is a big deal and being an American in Canada is difficult around the holidays since my family is so far away. Regardless tomorrow I am cooking a turkey and all the fixings and Friday I will go shopping, like I do every year the day after Thanksgiving. Come to think of it, maybe I will drive to Buffalo at 3am to get there for all the sales.
So to mark the occasion I did add my small American flag in my flower pot on the porch. My way of saying, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
