For all those that have purchased Mattamy's Energy Star Certified homes in recent months/years, did you ever get a certificate or other documentation to 'prove' that your home was indeed certified? I have some doubts that our house did or could pass the test but it is supposed to be an Energy Star home.....

You bought in May or was that when you moved in? And what exactly was it that you received? Thanks...

The rebate is 10% of your CMHC Fee - so if you put 20% down - there is no rebate...

I moved in in May -sorry for not clarifying. and you get a certificate and a plaque

For those that received their certificate, do you get a score of how energy efficient your home is?

I bought a resale and the original owner claimed not to have such a certificate. Does anyone know where I can obtain one and from whom?

Thanks

Hi Starbaby55:
Do you know what phase was your house built in? I remember that earlier phases of Mattamy Homes in Milton weren't Energy Star certified. Youre house may be one of none ES certified homes. I am not sure who to contact or to check, but may be someone else on the forums can help you here ...

Regards,
-Riaz

My house was built in 2005 (no idea what phase?). It has all the energy star stickers saying it was certified around the house and the agent told me it was but...? I read on the forums previously about the rebate through CMHC, but when I read it required a certificate I wasn't sure how to go about getting one. Hm. Maybe I got dooped by the sellers? I know my house has energy efficient items (windows, hot water furnance etc), but maybe its not Energy Star certified?

Can anyone advise where I can check? Thanks for your help Riaz.

Energy Stars were built by Mattamy starting in Phase 15A - thats what I was told by the sales guy that my phase (15A) was the first to provide energy star homes

Sounds like if your house was built in 2005 maybe the previous owner had done some things to make it Energy Star?

Tim&Sandra - no score is on the certificate.

Below is a link with some of the information you are looking for.
