Isn't your house a factory build? If so, why does the cold weather have anything to do with it since it was build in a controlled environment. Hm...

Factory built or not, shingles need hot weather to seal to each other.

You should ask your builder to repair this ASAP, but he will be busy repairing all the other missing shingles out there.

Most shingle manufactures specify a different nailing pattern for shingles installed during cold weather but I doubt they are doing this.

I inspected a 6 year old Mattamy roof on Tuesday in Milton for a Buyer. The rear roof on this home was finished. ( caput )

Roof workmanship in the last couple years has become worse, not better. What amazes me is that the builders are not doing anything about it.

I have said it before, and I will say it now. Milton will soon be a paradise for re-roofing companies.

Sealer Strip - See the picture below. See the tar strip on top of the shingle? That is the sealer strip. Hot weather is required for it to seal to the shingle above. This prevents it from blowing up or off in the wind.

What they told you is correct, the shingles need a good heat cycle to properly adhere. I closed last July and every wind storm I've got shingles in the backyard. Can't wait to go home today to see how many new ones I've got to add to my collection. Mattamy will usually fix these.

You need a solid summer of good heat for the shingles to adhere properly.
