When I log in I can see the new messages because they are flagged yellow or orange or something next to them.

Say I log off (Boss coming) then log back in later, none of the messages are flagged even though I may have only read 5 out of 20.

Is this happening to anyone else or just me? And is there a setting I can change to keep the new messages flagged?

Thanks
Matt

Hey Matt,

That happens to me too! Thought maybe I was the only one!

Sometimes it happens if I click on a new flagged message, and then hit back to see the other new messages. By then, all the new messages are not flagged anymore.

I'm interested in any ideas about this too.

Laurie

The only thing that I know is:

New messages highlight yellow. It is sort of like your mail box. I use Eudora when new messages come in there is a dot beside it. If I click on the message, but not open it up it will highlight and be placed in a smaller viewing panel. by leaving this open for some amount of time, will make the message dot dissappear...meaning it has been read even without opening. The same respect is for PHPBB board. You open up the topic, means you have read the post, as soon as you go to a next topic (without hitting back) will clear the yellow "new" post. Also if you leave the main window up long enough, I have noticed that all the yellow highlights dissappear.

Something else interesting. If you open up two windows of the Mattamy board at the same time, when you close one of them, it then cancels all the yellow highlights and the last window of the forum open will show no new posts when refreshed.

My head hurts...I hope this makes sense.

Tim

You can always just stroll through the topics in each form.

The topics with the most up-to-date postings are listed first with the posting date and time.

My strategy when i want to take a peek at new postings when i only have a minute, is NOT to sign on but rather troll the topic lists for the latest.

when i am i not pressed for time i sign on and get the list of topics since last sign on. Some dups but thats ok.

Matteo

Yeah, what makes it difficult sometimes is if you haven't signed on for a few days and there's a lot of catch-up to do. I also choose to log on when I think I will have some time, but then often get sidetracked by something or other for a half of an hour or so, and then come back to find myself automatically logged off and the new message flags deleted. That's why when I log on after being away for a few days, I always take note of the date that I last logged on.
