Everyone should get a dehumidifier for the day you move in. Air conditioning or not you will need one, especially in the summer.

Sit it in the basement over where the water drain is and just let it drain into there.

Unless you have hardwood floors, you shouldn't need a humidifier for the first year or so of your house. The excess moisture coming out of the cement, concrete, wood, drywall and carpet will all add enough humidity to the house.

I got a humidifier the first year I moved in. I still haven't turned it on.

Get your humidifier from the same place who installs your AC.. They will usually throw it in pretty cheap.

I have an old crappy one in our basement. Seems to do the job nicely.

When we had our 30 day, the fellow that came in brought a humidity checker and my humidity was around 60 (with the dehumidifier filled up and stopped). When I drained the tank and let it run, it dropped his meter by at least 1.

when looking for a dehumidifier, try to get hands onto the model that gives u an option to put a hose directly on the chamber rather than collecting in a bin.

LOL, guess I should hook mine up.

does anyone know either of a good deal out there on a dehumidifier, or does anyone have one that they are getting rid of and I can make them an offer?

Jessica :)
