For those of you commuting from Milton.

Every morning on the traffic report I hear "401 slow from Mavis to Mississauga rd". How bad is this stretch and/or how do you get around it?

I'm not telling you the secret, will make my commute worse ...

Seriously, I used to take 401 (James Snow to Hurontario and back) now I take Derry to Mavis, it is much better, not much faster though. It takes me about25 to 35 min, Derry and 4th to Hurontario and Watline (Highland Fams). The traffic on Derry is muh smoother (slow only between Glen Erin and Argentia) and I figure I save about 20 to 25% in gas.

PS: I leave around 7 or 7:30 from Milton and leave work at aroung 4 or 4:30 for Milton.

Hi grrreg

It depends on the time that you leave. I currently live in the Mississauga Road/Derry area and would take Derry to Mavis/HWY 10/410 to avoid the Mississauga Road to Mavis stretch.

My recommendation would be to take Derry all the way from Milton to Mavis or HWY10. It slows around Mississauga Road, but you can do about 100 after Financial Drive.

From the times I have travelled from Milton to Dixie & 401 (during the "Line") I took Derry all the way to Dixie and from 7am it took 45min to 1 hour to get to work.

I also listened to the radio reports which always said traffic was bad at mississauga rd or hwy 10, so I never got a chance to take the 401.

Now with that being the summer, I wonder what winter driving would be like.

Tim
