If it is 1:30 I plan on being there, if it is 9:30 then I'm afraid I'm double booked with the design center To the op's thoughts, I think threatening and being stand offish isn't going to get us anywhere, and while I intended to attend to listen, and voice an opinion, I have no intention of participating in an angry, unruly mob. |

Folks.... I agree we shouldnt protray ourselves as a mob, what I would suggest that we put togather a statement on behalf of home buyers and speak to the council with Mattamy present. We need to elect a speaker and the text of what to say. There was a statement HockeyCoach made which is really good on the other thread that I would nominate. |

This is what HockeyCoach said, "Stop using me as a pawn in your (region/town/Mattamy) battle and communicate better with residents. It is clear that this issue is a sore point for many and it is even more clear that the messages that Mattamy and the Region are sending, are conflicting. I understand the importance of DC's. I can live with the fact that we may have higher DC's than other region's. I'm ok with that. In a strange way, I like paying more for the biggest investment I will ever make in my life time because I really like living in Milton and it may keep some of the rift raft that now occupies homes to the east of us out of Milton. Strange I know but its true. To me, this issue is a simple one - communicate better. I don't care who's to blame but just fix the damn problem and stop all of this BS. Stop using me, stop pointing fingers and just fix the problem. On the other hand I am curious as to why you voted for this and why is it that my DC on my home in Milton may infact help out Burlington, Oakville, Acton or Georgetown and may not actually help out the town I live in? " We can use this as a template. This is a suggestion |

Hi Kashif Thanks for your points. Please check the www.halton.ca web site for the reports. These charges are specific to the HUSP (Halton Urban Structure Plan) area which is the Milton expansion area and specifically for water, waste water and road construction which the region has to itemize as part of their 10 year capital forecast to become part of the appropriate Development Charges for the area similar to what other regions and municipalities do to fund new growth areas both in residential and industrial/commercial areas. I understand from Regional staff that Mattamy has paid all these charges to the Region in full in August before sending the letters out to new home buyers on September 3rd. Colin Can you please bring these facts out during the session? We need to get to the bottom of this. As you know, the people who will be hurt are the residents of Milton not Mattamy. |

Good call, I am calling this person too. Folks, I am repeating myself a few times but I think this is important. We need to have a voice from us (home buyers) at the session on September 30th. We need a statement read to the council and Mattamy. Are there any suggestions on content and person? I had posted a template from someone else on the forum. Should we have a lawyer speak on our behalf? Lets organize ourselves, as us being at the session will be further amplified if we actually speak out professionally and objectively. |

Kashif_Aslam i think that is a great idea! we first have to know exactly what this charge is for is it a tax? or a DC charge they knew about prior to us signing. We have to find out who is telling the truth! Then we will know how to proceed. |
