Wondering if anyone can help me here.
Got a boat and trailer on wednesday, it was raining so I couldn't take it out. I trailered it home, the brake lights, left and right indicator lights were working fine. I put the boat and trailer in the garage for the night.
On Thursday, we were going to take the boat out, but when I hooked up the lights again only the left brake/indicator light was working, the right had nothing.
To troubleshoot:
If I swap the harness for the left and right light (at the trailer wishbone) the right light will work so that rules out the burnt out bulbs.
I then checked all the ground wires, and I am good - its grounded fine.
I then tried playing with the main 4 pin connector from the trailer and my Jeep - when I test the voltage for the 4 wires (white, brown, yellow and green) White is ground and the other 3 show me the 12v. So the power from the jeep is there.
When I connect to the harness - something screws up. I don't get it.
To rule out the harness, I put the yellow (left light) from the Jeep to the yellow (left light ) of the harness and I get the light working.
If I try the yellow (left light) on the jeep to the green (right light) on the Trailer harness...the right light works. When it is green to green I get nothing.
I'm losing my mind here....becasue the trailer wiring is fine, and the jeep wiring is fine....but obviously something isn't fine.
I've been working on this all evening and just gave up 20mins ago. While trying it just now, I noticed that the side marker lights aren't working either (brown wire) but I get the 12V at the brown wire from the jeep.
I want to take the boat out tomorrow - but I can't if the lights on the trailer don't work.
Someone, anyone out there who can help me?
