Folks As a FYI, I have been out of heat now for over 8 hours. I called Reliance Comfort, who is the service provider, and I will not be able to see someone to fix my water heater until Monday! Very unnreliable and definitely a rip off for service! |

Yes I did, several times. I hate it when you are transferred to people offshore who have no idea how bad it is without heat when its below zero and you have a toddler. I called a few times this morning, and was able to get someone in Canada who got someone to come this evening. What a nightmare! |

I agree with the offshore people. I called in with a problem (or what i thought was a problem) with my water heater. I explained the entire situation and asked if it would be covered under the warranty as I'm renting the water heater. The lady told me that yes it would be covered, no problem. So, I waited at home, Reliance guy came to my house. I explained the situation and he stated that no it was not covered and that I would have to pay a 250$ charge for Reliance coming out on a weekend. I explained that a lady (who sounded Phillipino) explained that it would be covered. He told me that they have a call center in the Phillipines and that they are constantly giving incorrect information like this. He told me he'd put it on paper as a "scheduled maintance" and didn't charge me!! Thank god. |

I called them a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. I was having an issue with my water heater. They had a repair guy out to my house 2 hours after I called. |

We are not impressed with Reliance at all and had we known the service would have been this bad, we would have looked for other alternatives. I just wanted to share our experience and provide some awareness... Yesterday afternoon, around 3pm, we noticed we had no hot water and no heat. We are renting the hot water heater tank from Reliance, so we called them. This is our first time calling since we moved in about 3 years ago. We got a call centre in the Philiipines. The rep told us to call our gas provider (Union Gas) first, before they are willing to look further into this. So, we called Union Gas; very quick, service rep was at our door within the hour; he checked and ensured that it's not a problem with the gas supply/line. No charge for the call - great! So we called Reliance again, got someone from a call centre in the Philipines again. He told us that he cannot have a service techinician out until the next morning! We pleaded with them and even spoke to the Supervisor there. We told them that it is really important to have this looked at right away, as we have a baby in the house. We explained to them that it is really cold in Canada and that the temperature in our house continues to drop. They basically told us that there is nothing they can do in this emergency situation, and that we just have to sit and wait till the next morning. Thankfully, we were able to borrow a space heather from our nice neighbour - without it, would be much colder in our house. Lesson learned: Reliance really doesn't care. There is no common sense. Call Centre in the Philiipines is powerless and not helpful in this situation. |
