Pull the red cord to disconnect the GDO then see if the door will move freely.

Is it belt drive, or chain?

If the sensors cannot see each other, then the door will not close and the light bulbs will flash. The door will still open.

If you pull the release handle and move the door manually. Does it move up and down freely?

Press the remote button and see if the trolley moves on the rail.

If it does not move, then there either the belt is no longer attached to the gear on the opener, or something inside the opener is broken.

The help line for Craftsman is 1-800-528-5236. I had a problem with my garage door opener and they were very helpful.

If you decide to take it apart; be careful with the belt. You don't want to suddenly release tension on it and have it snap back at you causing an injury. Check the manual, call the help line or get professional help for proper disassembly!

I'll be in Milton tomorrow doing another 6 openers.. Perhaps I can stop in quickly between them and give it a look.
