For those of you interested...one of my goals for the new year is to extend our hours until 8:00PM or 9:00PM a few nights a week as well as open Sunday's. It's hard when you run a business and have a family as well...right now I work 6 days a week and about 10-11 hours a day. But with the new staff we have I'm definately going to make this a priority...especially after reading all of the feedback.

Good news!

BTW, installed everything tonight and got a post and full boot on the first power up. Can't say I've done that before ;)

LOVE LOVE LOVE the case. It's friggin HUGE, but lots of hand room and enormous fans. Also the first time I've worked inside a case and not cut myself!

$750 sounds a bit high.
You should be able to get a Windows 7 PC Loaded 4GB, large HDD, with more than enough power for the majority of home use for under $500.
I can send you deals emails if you like...

(Also Conrad, the bar is coming along nicely! Hope you found a buyer for your sweet casino unit.)

I'll give the usual expert computer response:

What do you plan on using this computer for?

For email, web, very basic photo editing, word type stuff. It'll be fine and last you a good few years before you'll need another upgrade.

If you want to play the latest games, photoshop editing, video editiing, watching HD videos, any kind of development .... you going to want to shell out a bit more money on the graphics card (which will likely require a bigger power supply too .. even for that computer 450 seems small). Also, since you are spending more money on the graphics card .. I'd go with a BFG nvidia card. They have a lifetime warranty in case something goes wrong. Between 2 friends of mine, they've gone through 4 ASUS video cards in the past 3 years because of hardware failures.

I thought that this is a great deal since its the Intel i5 opposed to the Core 2 duo / Core 2 Quad.

Love to see pics of the bar. We decided to keep our existing bar.

Planning on using it for the average home stuff, but also photoshop editing and basic video editing. How big of a powersupply do you suggest?

Sorry, didn't know that actual processor was important to you :)

I always buy 2nd or 3rd generation processors since they usually drop in price by 75% and more only a few months after they come out. 95% of users don't need the newer processors anyway. Ram, Cache, and bus speed (88MPH!) are usually the most important, but many still spend too much on processors they don't get the use of (processor use normally between 0-10% and rarely peaks over 50).

That's the opinion contrary to what a PC salesman would tell you :)

Depends on the price to upgrade. I have a 600W power supply that I got when I put my computer together almost 3 years ago. Seems like most 600ish power supplies can be had for roughly 100 dollars where the 400ish ones are 50-70 dollars. I'd say that's a small price to pay for upgradability in the future (like say a graphics card).

Yes the i5s are a great budget chip, or rather will be when the price comes down. The fact is they aren't THAT much better then a good Core 2 Duo or Quad Core. At least not enough to justify the price jump.

And I'd recommend if you are going to be using photoshop and doing some video editing that you should bump up the graphics card. I'd look for a GTX240 at minimum if you prefer nvidia or a 46xx or 56xx minimum if you prefer ATi. Photoshop CS4 (not sure if CS3 does) utilizes your graphics card power and speeds it up noticeable amount (when I jumped from an 8800 GTS to a GTX 285 it was VERY noticable).

And again, try some of the alternatives to ASUS. Some of them are cheaper and provide much better value.

My anti-ASUS stance may be slightly tilted by the fact my ASUS mobo was the one that just crapped out. I'm very pleased with my Gigabyte mobo so far!

$290 doesn't buy you much of the above

Sorry, I didn't mean to undermine the post if that was your quote.

Again, I've mentioned I never buy brand new components for home use computers.. no point. I load up on Ram and occasionally a good vid card (althoguht my 512MB PCIe card is 5 years old and still does a great job.)

As a couple others have mentioned, the price is irrelevant without first asking what the PC will be used for :)

ahh you can cancel that.. for some reason, I didn't think this machine had an AGP slot, but it does, so I found a card for it. Thanks though!

Hmm, is it just me, or is it no longer listed on their Website as 'coming soon'?
