Colin,,

Did Town staff forget to post the agenda for the Budget meetings?

Or perhaps they do not want the public present?

Thanks

In 2006, the average municipal voter turnout for Ontario was 41%. Milton was 30%!! That has to change and it is not too early to take action.

It is hard to be enthusiastic about voting when the ballot for your ward offers choices between weak candidates. Nominations open in January. Now is the time to encourage potential candidates who show leadership ability and will accept the responsibility to act on behalf of constituents, rather than in their own best interests.

You really should try to attend the Budget meeting on Monday. It is one of the most important meetings of the year and a good opportunity to see first hand how your representatives are handling their responsibility to you. In a pre-election budget meeting they will all be playing to the press, but you should be able to tell which have read the budget, which understand it, which have their own agenda, and which are the very few who are questioning individual projects to see that your tax dollars are spent wisely.

It is YOUR community and these are YOUR representatives.

The Agenda link that Colin posted came up fine when I tried. There's also a sub-link http://www.milton.ca/execserv/agendas20 ... ndment.pdf in the agenda as well.

Both the sublink, and Colin's original http://www.milton.ca/execserv/agendas2009/bgdec.pdf agenda link came up fine when I tried to load them this morning.

Make sure you have Adobe Reader installed. A good test is to double click any pdf and see if it opens up. You may have to associate pdf with Adobe Reader properly. For that in Windows just right click any pdf file, go to properties and click "change" under "opens with". I am sure there's a straight-forward way to do this in Macs as well.

After spending one hour at the Budget meeting i got up and left.

If you wanted to see a Circus with Clowns you should have attended the budget meeting tonight.

I say feed them peanuts on Election Day.

Back in 2004 C.N.Watson and Associates predicted Miltonians will have an average tax increase of 4.7 % every year untill 2021 That means that on a tax bill of $2,000 in 2004 a resident will be paying $4,366.40 in 2021

Canadian Champion Friday December 31,2004 page 7

Can someone explain to me where is all the cash going?

Mohawk Slots have given Millions of dollars to the Town every year.

Know that Mohawk has the approval to build a 10 Floor Hotel and Golf Course at 401 and Guelph Line. The Town should ask to up the its annual contribution to The Town coppers.
If an approval to build a 12 floor Hotel in Campbellville you sure can expect our Head building bureaucrat will approve the same at Hwy 25 and Derry Road. Lets watch this one unfold.

Enjoy
