| Post subject: | Gas furnace noise |
Our high eff. gasfurnace (Keepright) has had the inducer fan, (the one that starts up before the main fan kicks in) replaced twice in three years (under warranty) due to a high pitched noise, like bearing noise on their beginning towards failing. It is starting to make that same noise again this year. Is it normal to have to replace these inducer fan assemblies every two years due to bad bearings? The warranty for this is over, so does anyone know a good honest repair man in town for these things? Thanks |

I sure hope it isn't normal! I had to replace mine last year (furnace was 4 years old), not because of noise but because it wouldn't start (if you gave the motor a spin it would start and run but not on its own). The part alone cost $500. |

Try George Bach from Bach Heating & Air conditioning. The office is in Mississauga but I believe he's a Milton resident. He has other guys working for him also. http://www.bbb.org/kitchener/business-r ... on-1136392 In our previous house we had the same issue with our Keeprite furnace. The furnace was about 5 years old at the time and the fan starting making this really high pitched noise. We had to replace the fan but upon further inspection the heat exchanger had multiple cracks which we were told is a very dangerous thing due to carbon monoxide issues. If you have a builder's model Keeprite it's a good thing to check out. They are pretty busy but hopefully you'll be able to get George out to take a look. |
