Check out your Milton Hydro website at www.miltonhydro.com I was talking to a lady there today because I was inquiring about getting smart electricity meter for my house. I was told that I have a interval meter, but it is not connected right now. Every so often they are connecting 2000 units. The next time will be in April. You will get notified if you are going to be connected by a letter in the mail, otherwise you'll have to wait. My boss installed one in the country and it cost ~$600bucks. Apparently builders are having them installed in new home projects. And from what I was told, by 2010 everyone should have them...wheither that means everyone in Milton, or everyone...everyone??? So what you do with the smart meter is use your heavy appliances/electricity at the cheaper periods and get the less expensive costs added to your bill. Right now you have people coming to your home to read your meter, but the smart meter also taps into your phone line and at the scheduled day around midnight, will connect to the Milton server and upload your meter readings/results. If your phone is busy, it will try at different times...cool EH? Here is a picture of our "Smart" Meter.
I was also referred to sign up at the Milton hydro website so that you can see your bills and statistics ... etc. For your amusment, I have posted what it looks like...there is more to it, but this is the gist of it. Enjoy. You can see your billing history.
You can see your bill details
Consumption history for your electric account
Consumption history for your water account
ETC. I am hoping with the smart meter connected, you can see the times to use electricity, what it costs etc. Tim |

Looks like Milton Hydro has updated their website, but I found 2 problems with it already.
I found this page for consumption history very interesting. Looks like you can compair your history with the history of people on your street...neat!!! If only it would have worked
Electricity graph changed a little.
Water graph also changed a little

Here's my latest... My equal billing report
Electrical readings
Water readings
Electrical readings
Electrical readings vs Robson Crescent
Electrical readings vs Robson Crescent bar graph
If you notice, there is only one month that my bill is lower than the average of Robson Crescent. All I have to say is there must not be too many families on my street if my consumpsion is always higher Tim |

that's very good question! we don't use a land line now either - is it still active for this purpose btw Tim - our usage relative to the rest of the street looks similar to yours. we usually use more hydro, but less water. that surprises me, actually. |

Milton Hydro is changing out all of their residential phone based meters. They now use wireless meters. If you received a letter you already have a wireless meter. Andrew |

This is so cool! I've only just now gone online to compare our electricity consumption. Really nice. The below is our Milton Hydro electricity consumption for a Tothburg 3300sqf home with 2 adults, that has central air on during the summer. It compares our usage, to the average usage on our street. We use less electricity then the other houses on our street, probably because most other homes on our street have more than 2 people. Thanks OneWiredMouse!
The below is the same thing, but now for water comparison
Now there's even more... I can see my electricity comsumption per HOUR for any given day, OR graphed over the whole week. You can see when it's over the whole week it peaks in the early morning and afternoons on weekdays (monday to friday) but then peaks very high during the mid-day on Saturday/Sundays.
Milton Hydro is fantastic!! |

You beat me to it Rick I thought it was pretty cool. I believe my Electricity is lower now since we are TOU. I feel for the couple of people that work nights and they think they are getting stiffed because the majority of us work days. I notice that my home with 5 people has only been lower two months of the year compaired to the average on my street and I am trying my best to make my home energy efficent! Good luck to all. Tim |

You can check off the show TOU bands to show usage in each price block. Rick your doing pretty good. Look to see more added in the near furture. We are introducing a bill comparision tool. If you have any comments about PowerView let me know as it is going through a redesign. Any feedback is welcome. |
