Hi guys,

I am going to Cuba in April. I went to the same resort in November and got friendly with a lot of the staff (my bf's parents have been there about 7 times so they know all the staff really well too). I have purchased some things to take down, but am wondering if anyone has anything that is in good shape that they may want to donate?. The Cubans have requested (they actually never ask for ANYTHING, but if you press them they'll tell you they would love a few of the below):

1. soap, shampoo and toothpaste (any toilettries really) as they are expensive to buy there.
2. baby clothes (one lady is due in May. Unknown if it's a boy or a girl at this point, so we have purchased some gender neutral clothing in yellows, greys and greens). They really need some "warmer" clothes (jackets, pants, etc) but anything for a new baby would be appreciated (anything that can be easily taken in a suitcase).
3. clothes for 'larger women' (sizes 12+) and bras
4. any "yoga wear" type clothing/material (la senza sport/lululemon etc)
5. kids toys in good shape (again, that would be easy to transport)
6. anything else you'd be kind enough to donate.

I will gladly pick up, or you can drop off on my porch.

Any donations will be highly appreciated by the workers :)

Thanks for the generosity in advance.

Gor friendly heh?

Don't forget school supplies, make-up for women, purses(cheap ones), etc. You should see how estatic they are when you send them a purse as a gift.

Also, any old GSM cell phones(Rogers) with chargers. While cell phone service is cheap in Cuba, phone itself is expensive.

You should also call the airline that you are flying with and see if they will allow you an extra luggage for free carrying donations. I believe Sunwing did if you call ahead, not sure about the other airlines anymore.

Became friendly, is that better? lol Since his parents always go down, we had stuff to give to specific people and had to introduce ourselves as son and daughter-in-law of so-and-so. After that, we got catered to. So now whenever we (bf and I) or bf's parents go down we always take stuff. We have given purses, make up, school supplies, electronics and clothing in the past. This time, we are looking to give more clothing (they say it's harder to find size 12+ clothing) and stuff for a new baby. Thought it might be an opportunity for someone to donate to charity as well as many clear out some needed space in their house :)

Would like to have all donations wrapped up by beginning of April. We are allowed 70 kgs, but are only taking one large suitcase each (i know some airlines will allow you to take more though if you are donating stuff).

Thanks for your post !
