While I agree it can be realtively easy for handy people, not everyone is that handy when it comes to things like this. And not everyone has the tools and the knowledge to use them in order to solve all their house-maintenace issues. This is where hired help comes in. Use your buddy if you like and he is handy with this sort of thing. As for liability and your insurance, this is entirely up to your insurance policy. They are not all written the same. For any questions about what your insurance covers, your insurance agent is the only one who could answer that. I can hook up someones dishwasher without issue.. but I know specifically that my company liabilitiy insurance will not cover doing anything with electrican and plumbing. So I don't do it. |

When we went to our house there was just one wire where the dishwasher is supposed to be. Is it me or is it missing something/another connection? I -Priscilla |

That's correct, one wire is all you need. To get at the plumbing you drill through your cabinets... toward whatever direction your sink is in. |

I'm not sure about liabilty but it's very easy... I'm just a girl and I hooked mine up myself, (in my last house) while my toddler was sleeping and my husband was at work. Look under the sink you will see mattamy has your plumbing ready for the hook up. It's that black piping sticking up like a fingure. You go to home depot find a slaes person in plumbing department tell them your task. They will sell you a kit to hook up your plumbing, everything you need for the plumbing portion will be in this kit. You will also need a drill bit to drill a hole through your cabnet to run your hose to the dishwasher. After that has been connected you will need to turn the power off in your kitchen, this can be done at the electrical panel. Be sure to turn off kichen/dishwasher power it should be marked on your panel. Hook up the electrical and your done. |
