A young girl riding her bike on Scott was struck down by a car this afternoon. She's alive, but injured and I hope she is ok.

Although this is horrible and i do hope for this little girl to get back on her feet as soon as possible, It wasn't long before something like this was bound to happen.

Between the horrible drivers that think scott is a nascar track, and the bike lane being just inches from where cars are speeding up and down scott i do believe this to be a horrible design.

The bike lane should be on the far side of the road along the curb, people just don't pay attention enough and no matter how many time we write our concerns on this forum or scream at the town to do something nothing will change until someone is seriously hurt.

Is that how she got hit? Using the bike lane as it is intended?

I'm not sure, I blinked and I missed it.. next thing I know, she was laying on the road in front of the car.

While Scott was a bit of a race track before all the lines go painted, I have to say that I have noticed a remarkable change in driver behavior since they were painted. Mind you, not every is driving slower and less erratic ... but in general I would say it's quite the improvement.

So is the entire Scott Blvd this bad? or is it only south of Derry where there are issues?

Both north and south. Savoline is pretty bad as well. Hope she's okay. :(

Hope the girl is ok. I think it's unfair to blame the driver by default without knowing what really happened (unless I missed it above)? Whose to say the child didn't make a mistake (I know, so unlikely right!)?

The entrance into no frills off Scott needs to he changed. As Scott is a "one lane each way" road, people coming off Derry to Scott tend to plug up that area. Some racing to get past the no frills entrance before people leave the entrance. Bad design IMHO.

Also, I agree, the bike lanes should be along the curb. But u guess then argument then is, if a parked car is between the bike lane and the road. A driver may not see the biker and result into someone being ran over :(

Hope the little girl is okay.

Savoline is just as bad, if not worse. We aren't hearing about it yet because the school isn't open yet but when it does, get ready for another barrage of crazy driver posts.

As somebody said above, it is slightly better with the lines painted but still pretty scary. Since the sidewalk isn't finished south of the pipeline on the side with the park, when I walk my daughter there we either have to cross the street twice, or walk in the lane designated for parked cars. We have done both but neither option is very good when you have an occasional car blast by doing 80K plus. There is a white BMW that I regularly see and they have to be going over 100K every time.

Just like Scott, it is just a matter of time before somebody gets hurt real bad.

I hope she's ok as well.

I've voiced my opinion and concern about Scott many times previously so I'm not going to get into it again.

What I will say is that there is a huge void in proper infrastructure planning in Milton in general. Look that the whole Milton Trails and HVE communities in general. Its serviced by an unfinished Derry Road without a proper over/underpass for the rail crossing and on the other side, a pathetic excuse for a road called Main street. We were all sold on Tremaine becoming a major artery into the neighbourhood and to the 401 - yet who knows if that will ever happen. While both these communites are great, the roads that service them are an absolute joke.

Yes many new areas and new communities play catch-up with roads and infrastructure, but Milton has to be one of the worst examples of this.

Last time I heard they were waiting for a good weather to pain Scott, it has been a week of no rain.

Please paint the roaddddd coz a lot of drivers does not realize that it's a single car lane!

Yes I see a lot of people driving side by side on Scott, North of Derry... not any more on the South side though now that it's painted.
