So, we found out this weekend that we have a leak in our central air conditioning system and the unit is NOT even 2 years old!

To make matters worse, the company that sold and installed the unit won't even come back to service it!!!!! When I called for service, the rep tells me that they are booked solid for the next month. "Ok, so book me an appt for that time", I said. Her response, "We aren't booking any appointments unless you are covered under the "LABOUR" warranty" (which of course we are not. She goes on to say "The unit itself is still under warranty, but a leak isn't considered part of the unit")

So WTF are we supposed to do now? We know that a lot of the dealers don't want anything to do with the new High Velocity systems. How can you possibly sell us a unit, but not be willing to come out when it fails - Even when you KNOW that we might have to pay through the A$$ to get the thing fixed? :?

Sorry for the rant - but I hope you can understand my frustration!

If there is anyone out here who is a "Carrier" Authorized Dealer with experience repairing A/C units that are connected to the High Velocity Systems - please contact me.

Otherwise any referrals would be greatly appreciated - Preferrably someone who isn't going to hose us further!

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the pm's.

John - No, it is not water leaking, but the coolant - somewhere in the system - and we were able to find someone to come out and have a look tomorrow!

Will keep you posted.

I wasn't the least bit surprised at the number of requests we received via pm for the name of the Dealer who refuses to service the central air conditioning unit they installed.

So, after some serious consideration (and for the well-being/sanity of our fellow Miltonians), the name of the Dealer is....

APPLEWOOD AIR CONDITIONING LTD

Stay away. Stay far, far away!

Surprise, surprise!

So - our dilemma continues!!!!!!!!

We have now been told that we don't have a leak but that the a/c wiring or coils were installed incorrectly when connected to the HV system.

In addition to this, apparently the furnace should not be sitting directly on the floor, but rather on mounting brackets! So, this company suggests they lift my entire furnace off the floor onto mounting brackets. Then they want to move around the coils within the unit and then install the P-Trap and vent.

This of course is going to cost us an arm and a leg, so we have now had 3 companies come over to diagnose our problem, and we are still at square one - with NO IDEA what the problem actually is OR how to resolve it.

Craig - you are my next call to come and take a look, but anyone else have any suggestions???????

PLEASE

Well, there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel thanks to Craig (fourseasoncomfortCOOLING)!!!

Craig sent one of his repair guys over last night, and after a thorough inspection, he discovered that the freeze stat is not working properly and must be replaced. Cost of the part - about $30! (We won't know until tonight if this is the only cause of our problem, but let me say that this guy seems to know his stuff)!

So, eventhough it took service calls from three different companies and cost us $500 for diagnostics just to get a $30 part replaced, it was worth it since we now know who to call and trust whenever we have a heating or air conditioning issue.

Thank you again Craig (and Irek)! FOUR SEASON COMFORT ROCKS!
