I went into Pita Nutso last Friday - apparently it was their second day of business and was not impressed. Not with the food, but with how an employee was treated in front of customers.

I completely understand that there are obstacles and little hick-ups that need to be worked out with a store opening, however, how this employee was treated showed disrespect and was completely inappropriate.

I walked into the place around 6:30 p.m. and noticed that there were a few customers who were already waiting for their orders. I was greeted by a friendly female staff who took my order with great detail. However, during my order, an older, rough looking gentleman (who I assume is the owner) interrupted, without an apology, to ask the employee of previous orders that she took, with the implied message that she was unable to do her job. Her response to him was very detailed and she was able to point out which individual had placed which order with great accuracy.

Once I had paid for my order, I sat down with my 2 yr old son and waited. As the line got longer, I assume that the owner/cook was getting frustrated, and decided to yell at this female employee who was taking orders. He rudely told her to stop taking orders, stop working at the front and to make herself useful somewhere else. Observing this whole situation, there was clearly no where else for this employee to service more, than all the customers waiting. Even when customers were trying to pay for their order, she was bluntly told to stop and to listen to him - in front of all the customers in the store. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the employee packed my order and I made a point to thank her and wish her a good evening.

I don't think I'll be visiting Pita Nutso anytime soon - simply based on the fact that this employee was treated so poorly - if she was doing anything incorrectly, the owner sure did not help her perform any better. I will be writing a letter to let them know how he embarrassed himself more than anything and that his conduct to that employee was completely inappropriate in front of all the customers.

Just thought that I'd share my experience at Pita Nutso.

lol....so true Scotian!

Don & Carmen, we were there at that exact same time! We saw that happen too. We were the 2nd people in line (for about 10 minutes) with our 2 little ones until we witnessed the owner/manager yell at the young girl and the other gentleman trying to prepare the food. We left after the owner announced to everyone waiting that one of their spits broke and it would be a while until the chicken would be ready.... needless to say we'd seen enough and thought we'd give them sometime to get on their feet. Went to Montfort to get our Shawarma fix.

There is nothing that turns me off from a business more then a manager that treats their staff bad infront of customers. I used to witness that at Catered Affair Cafe a few times, never went back.

I was passing by the place a couple of days back and saw a couple of very rough looking guys chatting in front of the store. They looked like employees. Turned me right off.

IMO, best Lebanese place in the GTA is still Paramount. They have great shawarmas in addition to everything else.

I met Paramount's owner a couple of weeks back and he told me that unfortunately he has no plans of opening a location closer to Milton anytime soon. The closest one is still on Dixie and Eglinton (on Crestlawn next to the Police station in Mississauga).

Loved Pita Nutso in Oakville and was excited to see it move here. Had it on Sunday night and it was as good as ever. The two guys that were working there also work in their Oakville location and seem to be nice guys. Great addition to Milton!!

I love going to downtown TO to dine.

However, if we all don't dine locally, there will never be any improvements.

There is a great need for better and restaurants in west Milton.

i was in there on Sunday and i was going smack the little punk behind the counter. But after thinking about when i got home i was wondering if they were trying to copy the Soup Nazi image.

he was saying his uncle owns the Oakville location so complaining about the crap food or behavior wouldn't help.

one customer did complain about the chicken being dry and it's was funny seeing this kid hold in his anger. This customer asked for a bag for his take out and the young girl i guess didn't hear the customer because she was cleaning up. The manager/cook/kid (whatever) snaps on her and says "GET HIM THE BAG" in some psycho tone. I was floored...I actually feel bad that I didn't straighten this guy out then.

away it's a sh*t hole!!! my opinion of course.

I was also unimpressed with the food (Falafel).

Thanks for the head's up - we received a coupon yesterday, was planning to try it.

I'm not one to stand for others being treated so poorly, if I witness anything I will politely speak up. Employees should not be treated in such a way, too many restaurants do this, believe me!

well lets see how this place works out. but i completely disagree with treating employees like crap. that just makes them want to work less for you, not the other way around. it ends up backfiring. if a manager treats the employees with respect and actually puts effort into training them, it'll benefit the business but also the kid will learn a work ethic and will enjoy going to work.

Who are you to question management decisions?

On another thread, I declared a post to be the funniest ever, but this one beat it.

Funniest. Post. Ever!

Employee's? I have never been to this pita place, but according to the post sounds like family to me. It's probably the way the family is ran, other cultures treat each other differently, it does not mean that they do not love each other, it's just the way things are done back in their home land. I wouldn't say they are mean, they are probably a family with tight bonds with each other... (If these employee's are family)
