Hi all! Some time in the future I would love to own a boxer. I've been doing some reading on the breed but would really appreciate any feed back from people who actually own one. So far I've been told that that this is a very hyper breed. |

My sister has a boxer. Yes they are very hyper and have a short life span. I don't know about all boxers but my sister's dog also drools constantly so it gets all over the house but they love their dog and they wanted a boxer. Her dog is very good with their child too and they had the dog for quite a while before her son came along. |

Boxers are a family breed, very commited to there family, loyal love kids. Our boxer is a male and he's 3 years old, he is the laziest couch potato. We have friends with female boxers, they are very rambunctious. But they say if you give them a inch they will take a mile We did Mccann dog school up to grade 3 and we are glad we did. Yes they drool, but if you work hard you can tame it. You wil enjoy a boxer!! |

I highly recommend them. Very high energy. Just an FYI, if you have nice hardwood, be forewarned, your floors could get ruined. Our last house had hardwood which were all torn up. We ended up buying dog shoes for our boxer for the new house and most of our main floor hallway is tile. She's very family oriented, great with kids and other dogs, and very defensive in terms of the kids, and the house. Intelligent as well. |

Thank you all for your responses its greatly appreciated. Love your picks itsajeepthing. You have a beautiful dog. Right now I'm gathering as much information as I can on the breed. I used to have a rotti and she was the best dog I ever owned. If or when I'm ready to take on this responsibility I will definitely go with a reputable breeder. Thanks again for all the feed back. |

We have a boxer/bulldog. I don't find him overly hyper, he does have his moments though! We also have 2 young daughters, and he is fantastic with them. And thankfully, he isn't a drooler...eww! Jason got him from a breeder we found online...I probably have the info saved on my computer somewhere if you are interested. (All I remember was that it was a few hours away, and the price was reasonable. She was a vet's assistant or something, so he came with his first few shots, paperwork, a few toys and some food.) You have to go to a photo hosting site. I use www.photobucket.com - its free. Get an account, upload your photo there. After the photo is uploaded, view your album, put the cursor over the photo you want to post or was just uploaded and it will show you 4 different links, you want the IMG code. Copy that code and paste it in the message. The image code will look like [ IMG]http://i434.photobucket.com/albums/qq68/Totalpkg50/howtopostpics-1.jpg[/IMG ] <-- Something like that.

Thanks for your help with the image post eveyone! This is Hemi a few weeks before his first birthday. In the second photo he looks like he's growling, but he was actually barking and playing...he was just about to do what I call his "rabbit hop". |

Fran and Jason he is a cutie. I wonder if having the mix of the two breeds is what makes him calmer? If you don't mind me asking what was the breeders price for pups and what did it include? |

We have a Boxer and he will be 7 in October. He is absolutely wonderful with our kids and has been from day 1. He gets excited when people come to the door but quickly calms down. He does drool but its not too excessive. My brother has a Boxer and his does not drool and neither did the Boxer our friends had. I love this breed and highly recommend it. Good luck. |
