This is funny. They actually ran a segment on 680 news this past week saying that you can tell where area property values are going to rise by where the new Starbucks open up. It was an editorial segment and they basically said that because Starbucks does such amazingly thorough demographic research, they always depict areas which grow and property values along with them (unfailingly). The problem was (the newsguy said) you basically had to buy BEFORE the Starbucks came up to take advantage, because usually by the time they emerged and opened, the values were already on the rise or had risen. So if you bought, and then saw a Starbucks open near you, you were in for some good $$ luck, pretty much without fail! :)

Where did you hear the rumour? Don't you think there would be a sign up at the site letting us know? Comments?

ya - they were talking about that on the fan590 morning show last week ... it was funny, the one host said " think about it, if residents are able to shell out $5 for a coffee on their way to work every morning, it's got to be a high class hood!" i must not be that classy, since i prefer an XL timmy's, just cream... i'll only shell out the $5 for starbucks when i'm out with my high class friends and i'm trying to impress

Meeee too. Mmm. Timmies double-doubles all the way. Part coffee, part cocaine I think! :D

How many people here will pay 5 bucks for a Starbucks coffee, then have the nerve to complain about the price of Mattamy upgrades???   :D

Timmies all the way if you can get in the stupid door. I am sure most of the other coffee places in town are only in business to support the overflow of TH customers who cannot get in the door!!

A starbucks grande (lrg coffee) cost $1.98, worth the extra 50 cents.
Quite a bit better than Tim Horton's. $5 would only be for some kinda specialty drink.

:P

Cafe Deda is VERY good for coffee. I havent had a bad cup since I started going there. Service there is also exceptional and its a very warm environment to have a quick coffee and relax. I usually drop in on my way to Mississauga.

If you like sweet Latte's... Caramel Latte. Beware though...sugar rush.

Highly recommended.

Both of them are amazing there...really great people and really great food.

But what had initally happened is that they wanted to open a Second Cup franchise in their location. Second Cup looked at the demographics and came back and said the area doesn't support one!!! What a mess up. I don't know how old their stats were....but in any event, she did all the work to open on her own, and not too long before her opening, Second Cup came back and said they'd be very interested.

It was too late....and look at her now!! She buys all of her pastries and cakes from the same supplier as Second Cup too.....

So in any event, looks like Second Cup needs to take their head out of the sand, and missed out big time.

And congrats to Cafe Deda for kicking some butt!!!
