If you have Bell Satellite can you get rid of the digital standard package channels and thus cut $34 a month off your bill? I only watch the HD channels these days and almost never watch the old SD channels. Also is it possible to drop a package of SD channels and just add back a single channel and pay for just that? Can anyone tell me this before I have to talk to.........BELL ughhhhh.

thanks

I am not sure if thats possible...I know we pay $10 extra for 4 or 5 HD theme packs added on to our digital standard theme packs. I just called bell and they gave me movie channels free for three months (not the good movie channels though...but anything free is fine by me).

If i was to take a wild guess, if you wanted to drop the basic SD channels, and only get HD, they would minus the HD package price $8 - $12 and continue charging you the $34 a month for the HD package. thus switching The regular service being HD and you have to pay extra for the SD channels. But then i don't see that happening for at least 4-6 years away.

I also believe there is a legal aspect to having the SD channels (CRTC rules).

Oh I'm pretty sure they'll laugh at you for that request. I was talking to Bell yesterday and was asking them about their new 'on demand' feature. Sounded good but after talking to them and finding out more, you HAVE to purchase the movie channel package for $20/month to enjoy the feature of 'on demand' with Bell. I said 'no thank you'.

I had Rogers for 7 years in Toronto: you don't have to purchase anything extra to use Rogers On Demand. You only pay for the movie you want to watch (and there are quite a few to choose from, with new relaeses every week).

Interesting website...

Currently, there is mandatory carriage. There are certain channels that must be provided. Bell/Rogers/Cogeco might be the Evil Empire, but in this case it is not necessarily their fault.
