So you were involved in a hit and run, but didn't report it to the police?
And from what I understand, you didn't report it to your insurance either.

Why not?

I think you can buy video footage from the MTO for $50. (assuming a camera was there). You might be able to get his plate and thank him personaly.

Because we did not want our insurance to go up even if it wasnt our fault.

well I hope the guy learned his lesson and will not randomly swerve on a busy highway. I and the other driver don't want to go through the whole police, insurance procedures and etc. WE both were actually in a Hit and Run before and we don't want to go through the whole thing again....

Probably didn't learn his lesson because he got away scott-free. If you would've called the police and then they caught him, he might have learned his lesson.

You should have called *OPP from your cell phone. It is a FREE call, and should have reported him. They would have caught him right away (with a little description of his car, and the direction he was going.

Too bad you didn't get his license plate number. That's the first thing I would have done.

You better check the highway traffic act, I think that failure to report is an offense.

That is true, but both party mutually agrees not to report the incident, unless the third driver who hit Rohit at the first place reports, then it will be his word against Rohit and the other driver. Insurance will be jacked up, and Rohit will be at fault for not reporting within 48 hours.

Failure to report only applies to damage over certain $$ (not sure how extensive the damage was), but you can't imply its illegal without knowing that figure yourself.

If that guy does report it, he will be implicating himself as a hit-and-run because he did not stop, which is a higher offense carrying far harsher penalties than failure to report.
