Hi,
I know there is a thread on this topic but I think it needs to come back up again. Why are there no signs? All the "big" streets in his ward have NO signs. Clark, Yates, Ferguson, Bennett......no signs.
I was reading that there were at one point and they disappeared. Any way more could be put out?
Anyone on a major street willing to put one on their lawn?

Seriously, Mike needs more signs. Maybe couple of big ones with his pic. My neighbor just stuck a Soomro sign and I wanted to go over and ask him if he even knows what Soomro's platform is but DW said better not to argue with a neighbor... :(

This should not be happening to anyone's signs. Maqsood was at the all-candidates meeting tonight and at the end of his talk showed a sign of his that had been vandalised as well. He wasn't a happy camper, and rightly so. Everyone needs to respect the law when it comes to election signs. This is a democracy, and the laws surrounding election signs are a reflection of that. To vandalize any of the takes away from it and creates divides in the community that we do not need. Peace everyone! Let's focus on issues and let that decide the election - as it should be!! So if you see anyone vandalising a sign no matter who it belongs to call the cops.

Mike - you can put a sign on my lawn. Represent on McDowell Cres!

edit: just make sure it stays on my side of the lawn (since I share with a neighbour as I'm in a townhouse)

I feel you have to take lawn signs with a grain of salt. Many are put in public areas by the candidate so it's not the best gauge to see who might have the most support. Though at the same time I was in Carrolyn Parrish's ward the other day and noticed a lot less of her signs this time around, and was quite happy to see that...so what do I know? :D

It's actually against the law to vandalize/damage election signs:

I appreciate the enthusiam for the signs guys :)

As it was stated it IS against the law to tamper with the signs. There are bylaws we have to live by as candidates as well and if signs go up on private property we must have the permission of the property owner to do so. Some signs have gone up on lawns (albeit the town portion) but it makes it look like the homeowner shows support for that candidate when in fact they dont.

If youve had a sign put up on your lawn without your permission, call the candidate and have it removed. Sometimes its a mistake but just make sure.

Sign damage happens during campaigns...sometimes it can be people with too much time on their hands...whatever the case may be.

Its still wrong and Im very thankful to those of you who reported the damaged signs, and for those who are keeping an eye out for all election signs in their area.

Just a few more weeks to go...then theyll be gone.

So I guess I should move my sign then - even though it's right in front of my house - it is on the town portion .... I WANT people to know it's MY sign and who I place my support behind ..... :D :D

I wondered about that ..... especially all down Meighan .... all Maqsood's signs are on the town portion ..... so we should basically take sign placement on the town side with a grain of salt ....

In 2 more weeks all mine will go *poof* and vanish. Sorry for madness until then.

Barry Lee (retiring councilor) did mention in his farewall speech today that people running for town council suffer a certain mental illness. Maybe excessive sign wars is part of that.
