When was your closing date suppose to be? I'm not sure if your lawyer put it into your ccontract, but my lawyer put in a clause that says if the house is done early i don't have to close till my original date.

Quick look at my own legal papers warns that "the builder (Mattamy) has the right to move the closing date to a sooner date provided he gives you 90 days notice."
Did you get 90 days warning? And if so, is it the new date considerably earlier?

Wow!! SIX months early? That's crazy!
Check your legal obligations/rights before you decide on anything.

Then, call everyone you know who gave you the "your house will be delayed, trust me: builders are always late" speech. I know I got it from a bunch of "experts" when I bought my Lindsay (which was two weeks late, not months as these people predicted) and when we told people of buying the Lyndhurst. I hate that!

Anyway, best of luck with whatever decision you make!

very interesting! i wonder if they are trying to accelerate that whole area just north of cousens terrace... :?:

Jose & Maria Vasquez - as for your dilemma, it sounds like mattamy is giving you a choice on whether or not to move up your closing date, so checking your contract seems like a mute point. if moving it up by 6 months would be difficult for financially for you (it would be for us!), would they offer you a comprimise like 3 months? cause, if it wasn't for selling our current house, and saving up more of a downpayment :x , i'd move in early for sure! it's like waiting for christmas when you were a kid
