| Post subject: | Camera Repair and/or Clock Repair? |
Hello all, Can anyone recommend a place that fixes cameras or clocks? We have a Canon A-series digital that's on the fritz and I'd like to get it assessed before replacing it. We also have a clock in need of repair... Thanks! Jen |

Mr. Jolie is the man to see for your watch or clock. He is located upstairs above Delacourt's (with the entrance door being beside Delacourts.) |

Tim wrote: I collect vintage watches, and normally obtain ones that need some work done. I found Tom Jolie and have had him work on a few of my watches. Of course does clock repair as well. He does excellent work, turn around time on repairs can take a while however, he alternates spending time working on clocks and wrist watches.
I recommend him. Tim Any idea how much this man charges for a battery replacement on a watch? I don't mean to be a cheap bastard, but my guy out in Markham, Ontario does it for $5 a pop, and if it's something like $20 or more, then I'll just wait it out and save the $15 for a 12-pack of Lakeport. |

When the battery went on my good gold watch I took it to 2 other places in town and they could not figure out how to replace it. I then went to Mr. Jolie and he had it done in a snap and charged me $5.00. He's a little long winded but he knows what he's doing. |

I've never seen anyone who repairs digital cameras (let alone much anything small and electronic anymore), but call Canon up and ask them what your options are: 1-800-OK CANON (652-2666) |

Thanks for the replies. Because Mr. Jolie is closed Mondays, I ended up stopping by the Square 1 mall after work and getting a new battery put in for $10, in addition to getting a new watch fitted at The Bay. The watch technician girl was so rude that I had to chuckle to myself as I was leaving. I definitely don't recommend going there based on attitude. I was also charged $16-something just to get 3 blocks on my watch removed. |

Canon's web site has a list of repair people. There are a few in Mississauga. My A seriers digital sucks (I have 2 of them) Red eye feature just does not work, 80% of my pictures are ruined. My Canon rep keeps calling me with deals on them so I have to now say no! Matt |

After reading about him on this thread I took my watch to Tom Jolie yesterday. I thought it needed a new battery but the lady at Wal Mart put a new one in and that didn't do the trick. It turns out she did it wrong. According to Tom she also "put her thumbprints all over the internal mechanism" <gasp> He charged $10 for the battery change, cleaning up several things inside and tightening the clasp (spent about 20 minutes working on it). He is definitely a craftsman when it comes to watch and clock repair but you'll be shocked at the state of his workshop. I don't know how he finds anything! Also, pay attention because he goes form talking about your watch into a joke with little warning. Michelle |
