Just curious if anyone in Milton is using this cell provider and how the results have been so far. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Has their coverage finally extended to cover all of Milton yet? Last time I looked most of the town wasn't under their 'Wind Zone'. Meaning lots of extra fees for incoming and outgoing calls etc.

I checked their caoverage in my location (L9T 6X5) and they said it is coming in Dec end. They had family and friend promotion for $20 per phone per month for voice plan for life with free in/out calls and all free features.

So, I took chance and bought two phones last Friday. So far, they seem to be working fine in my house (eventhough their map say it is not covered).

Good luck for you.

I think when they say it is not covered, it means it is not covered in the wind zone. So it will work anywhere in Canada, but you'll get charged for roaming if you are not in the wind zone.

If it works in your house and it is not in the wind zone, then you must be getting charged for roaming at $0.25/min.

How's the service though? Clear? Any dropped calls?

Hi Rino,

It clearly says in my cellphone "Wind Home". It means no long distance charges. If it were "Away Zone" then only I will get charge. It is too early to say about drop calls since I got it 4 days ago. But the sound Quality is crystal clear. Service is not bad so far except few drop calls while calling them.

But again Money vs. Cost of Quality: Moneywise, it makes lot of difference for me. I was paying $80 more to Rogers than Windmobile even less features.

Also, there is no contract with Windmobile unlike with Rogers.

I have been using wind for 6 months or so and have had zero dropped calls and it's ALWAYS been a 'Home Zone' in my home on McDougall Cross in HVE. I am very happy with the cost savings compared to what I was paying telus before :)

+1 for 711 speakout plan. Good plan if you are looking for pay as you go. Credit is good for 12 months.

Some one else posted this website http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html that shows the Cellular Towers. It does show some Wind Mobile Cellular Towers in Milton.

No
Most of WIND is still an away zone (although they have increased coverage alot since launch) it really is useless unless you head to Toronto/Mississauga every day

Places like Brampton, Milton, Oakville etc have huge dead holes still (even on the optimistic web maps, reality is often even worse)

Raj,

I tried to find that offer via Wind's web site but couldn't find it. Did you get this offer in email? Can you share the info? I am interested in this offer if it is still available.

Thank you.

Below is the current promotion from Wind. It's AWESOME, everything unlimited for $40+tax!!! I want to switch but just don't know how good their service is in Milton. Thinking of buying a unit this weekend and trying it out...

Here is the official WIND page
http://shop.windmobile.ca/ProductCatalo ... racle+Plan

But like I said they had to do this because new competition has better service (Mobilicity) and existing carriers are a little more expensive but offer far better coverage

Here is Mobilicity (who also gives 3 months free service when you buy a phone from them; 90 days no charges)

http://mobilicity.ca/plans/

Neither has coverage in Milton though (both are away zones) but hey if you travel to GTA its all good

Someone posted this link http://http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html to check the mobile coverage. This maps shows two towers of Wind Mobile in Milton. Also when you visit Wind Mobile's web site to check the coverage, it shows Milton being covered at the end of 2010.

If Wind Mobile covers HVE then this is awesome deal.
