I had an appointment for Jameel DeStefano on Martin st on Mothers Day.
I thought it would be nice for both myself and my daughter to get our hair cut together.
Our appointment was at 11am, a girl came to us when we walked in and said that they are running a few minutes behind.
40 minutes later we are still waiting! The other 3 girls that were in there before us just sat down to get their hair cut (after already being colored) so we still would've had another 30-45 minute wait.
What's the point of having an appointment then? My husband came home early from work (which was 2.5X overtime) just so we could go. I made the decision to leave, why should I wait 1.5 hours and still have to pay for a service?? Is my time not valuable? Needless to say, I won't be returning.
So unfortunately I have no recommendations for you, just a warning.

I really like The Cutting Edge On Martin St. I don't get my hair done there every time because salons are just way too expensive in general, but when I want an expert hand for a drastic change ( like going blonde to brunette or long haircut to really short cut ) I go there. I like their staff, they're friendly, they really take the time to discuss what you're looking for and how realistic it will look and I've always been happy with the end result.

In that case I can recommend a woman who does my hair at her house ( she works in a salon part time as well ). She's in mississauga ( 15 min drive from Derry and Thompson ) and she charges a third of a salon price . She's quite flexible. But it's no spa appointment. She works fast. Pm me if you're interested and I'll give you her phone number.

Gloria is local and works out of her house. Great service, very reasonable prices, and will take you any time (late night, sunday's, etc).

I still go to my hairstylist in Brampton because I've had a hard time finding somebody who actually listens and does what I ask. He's great! His name is Alex at Headquarters on McMurchy (if he's booked go for Claudio). It's a bit of a drive for a hair appointment but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I went to Jameel de stefano. He coloured my hair, and while he worked told me all about how he was a new york stylist, and used to work with such a different quality of client.

However, despite his new york training, my hair was an absolute disaster. I was told to book another appointment to get it fixed, but they wouldnt be able to blow dry my hair after the appointment.

I went somewhere else to correct his "handywork" and I will not be back.
